LINDA MARIE BURNS
Linda Marie Burns is a creative professional based out of New York City. Born in Michigan, she thrives on making fantastical experiences with seamless logistics. She earned her BM in Vocal Performance from the University of Michigan, where she studied as a lyric soprano with Martha Sheil and Stanford Olsen, and performed in the operas Die Zauberflöte, Dead Man Walking, and as “Clorinda” in La Cenerentola. During her undergraduate studies she trained in artist services with Anne Grove at University Musical Society, and was the Development Manager of her a cappella group.
She then went on to earn her MFA in Voice Arts as a Lillian Disney Scholar from California Institute of the Arts, where she studied voice under Jacqui Bobak, film pre-production with Justin Hogan, and was trained in grant writing, tour management, and producing by Lauren Pratt. These skills allowed her to create, co-direct, co-produce, and star in Try Me., a collage opera exploring musical narrative, leitmotif, physical theater, and nonlinear storytelling. During this time she also performed as “Union Organizer” in the a cappella opera Sweat, by Juliet Palmer and Anna Chatterton, and trained in voice acting with Mary Louise Gemmill and Bernie Van De Yacht.
As a creative professional, Linda Marie focuses on the imaginative yet practical. She strives to infuse a creative and magical mindset with an effective and useful approach to every experience she creates. Excelling in unilateral thinking and organization, some selected projects that she has worked on are the opera Dada Divas, by Jacqui Bobak, Ulrich Krieger’s solo project, RAW, the LA-based ensemble Chordas Collective, her own project, Try Me., and CalArts 2019 Graduation.
Linda Marie loves the Rugrats, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Michigan autumns, and her kitten, Momo.
